A short range, an honest set of limits and a promise to tell you when a seat is finished.

HKAI started in 2019 with a bouncer frame and an argument about angles. One of us had a three month old who would sleep anywhere except flat, the other had a back that had stopped forgiving. We were not trying to build a nursery empire. We wanted a seat that held a baby at a sensible angle, folded into a wardrobe and cost less than a week of childcare.

That first seat became the Cotton Bouncer, and it is still the shape of everything we make. A metal frame with a fabric sling across it. Three recline notches. A harness with three points. Nothing that plugs in, nothing that plays a lullaby, nothing to reset at two in the morning.

People ask why the range is so short. Seven models is what happens when you refuse to release a colour as a product. The Cotton Bouncer comes in three fabrics, the rocking seat in two, and we count those as two products, not five. Anything we cannot explain in one sentence to a tired parent does not get made.

The second thing we make is the hip carrier, and it exists because of a shopping trip. A hip seat is a shelf you wear. The baby sits on it, your arm rests on top instead of underneath, and the thirty degree tilt keeps them leaning into you rather than sliding away. We added five pockets because the other hand was still holding a nappy, a bottle and a set of keys.

We are honest about where the range stops. HKAI does not make a cot, a pram, a car seat or anything a baby should sleep in overnight. A bouncer is a seat for the waking hours. When the baby drops off in it, and they will, the next move is a flat cot. We print that on the product pages because it matters more than any feature.

The parts come from the same thinking. A seat pad that is washed twice a week for a year is a consumable, and a toy bar that has been chewed since March is not worth keeping for the sake of it. Both are sold on their own so that the frame outlives them.

Everything here is priced the way we last read it, and the date sits on its own page rather than shouting from every corner of the site. Nothing on this site is a limited offer. If a model is missing from a department, it is because we could not confirm it was available, not because we are holding it back.

The measurements we publish are the ones printed on the seats. The Cotton Bouncer starts at eight pounds and stops at twenty, or on the day the baby sits up unaided, whichever comes first. As a toddler chair it goes to thirty. The hip carrier reaches forty four pounds on a waistband that adjusts to fifty five inches. Where a figure is missing, we leave the row out instead of guessing.
